Beach Hair Styling Secrets: 3 Beach-Friendly Hair Styles Everyone Can Wear
Whether you choose to jump in the water or not, you can rock a hair style that will withstand the elements. Take a look at these 3 suggestions from Glamour Magazine for Beach-Friendly Summer Hair Styles.
DIY Wavy Hair
Of course when we think of beachy hair, we think of waves. For the quick DIY-approach, apply leave-in conditioner at night to dry hair. Split your hair down the middle and braid each side down, securing the ends with a scrunchie. Don’t know how to braid? Split your hair into fours and just plait them into 4 big plaits. Sleep on your braids/plaits til morning, undo them and let them flow naturally.
The Messy Pony
How To Pull It Off: Pull your hair up to the crown of your head, apply your favorite scrunchie or cute pony holder and let your locks fall into place. No fuss, no muss.
How To Pull It Off: Apply a leave-in conditioner for protection, then pull hair back, keeping the center part visible. Tuck into a low chignon or bun at the base of your neck.
But wait! What’s the point of having hot hair if it gets damaged by too much sun? Here are 2 ways to keep your hair healthy while you’re outdoors this summer.
Protecting Your Locks From The Sun and Sea
Did you know if you spray your hair with water before you get in the pool or go to the beach, it protects your hair from chlorine or salt from the ocean? It’s true. Cosmetologists recommend this Beauty Secret because when your hair is wet, it will dilute any chlorine or salt so your hair won’t absorb as much from the pool or ocean.
Want even more protection? Wash your hair with hydrating shampoo that contains moisturizers. And for another layer of protection, use leave-in conditioners and sprays that contain UV protection. This is the summer hair care secret to keeping your hair from turning brassy or losing your highlights to the beaming sun. Chris Lospalluto*, a stylist at Sally Hershberger in New York, gives us the trick to this secret: Apply the leave in’s on damp hair, otherwise the product just sits on top of your hair and doesn’t get absorbed…hmmm…now we know!
