Is it really possible to never have a bad day? Well, “never” is a strong word, but I can say that because we get to choose how we respond to situations. Remember our conversation about dealing with rudeness? We saw that even though we can’t control what other people say, we can control how we respond. Well, the same is true about situations. We can’t control what happens when bad things happen, but we can decide to look up above our situations rather than look around for a pity party. So yes, I’m going to say it is possible to “almost” never have a bad day. Here’s how I turn my day around when I feel things are going south…
Not Having A Good Day? Here are 3 Ways To Cheer Up
1. Sing a New Song. Really, I can’t tell you how much music can instantly boost your mood. You could be having the worst day and a simple song can take your mind off what’s going on and put you in a better mood. If you’re too stressed, try a calming, relaxing music. Feeling a little down, try something more upbeat to lift your spirits.
2. Go outside – even if it’s raining, sleeting or snowing. Sometimes you just need to walk it off. Getting outside changes your whole environment plus it gives you a chance to get some fresh air. Don’t let the weather keep you from getting outside if you need to. Take a moment. Get out. Breathe. And get back to it.
3. Write it out. When you’re upset or stressed, talking may not be the best thing to do – especially if you don’t want to risk saying something your might regret later. So, use a journal or just a temporary piece of paper you will throw away or tear up or burn depending on your mood. Write it out so you can get it out of your head and off your shoulders. The other benefit to writing it out is you give yourself a chance to calm down. Since writing takes time, you get a moment to pause. When you’re calm enough to go back to your situation, you’ll feel better.
